The village is situated on the left bank of the River Aravó, around the parish church (St Stephen), built on a rock, the site of the old castle chapel.
It is already mentioned in 1269 and preserves the remains of a painted altarpiece from the 16th century by Antoni Peitavi and another carved in the 18th century by a pupil of Sunyer.
