On the southern slopes of Costabona, in the Ripollès region, in October 1958, an old mine where magnetite, calcite and serpentinite were extracted was finally restored as a free refuge.
Ten years later, the current, newly built identification was opened, as the mine was causing water seepage.
Subsequently, in 2000, a severe blizzard storm caused considerable damage, so the building was repaired again.
