The Mataró Refuge, also called the Gerber refuge or Gerber metal refuge, is a moutain refuge in the municipality of Alt Àneu, in Pallars Sobirà.
The Mataró refuge is located next to the island's lake, in the Gerber valley, at an altitude of 2,460 meters, in the peripheral area of the Aigüestortes National Park and San Mauricio Lake. It is an emergency metal shelter with capacity for sixteen people, a base for ascents to the Saboredo peak of 2,827 meters, the Bassiero peak of 2.898 meters, and the Amitges peak of 2.847 meters among others. It is a shelter without a guard, which does not have a sink or shower, with bunk beds with mattresses, but no blankets. There is a radio station and you can cook.
