This site is important to understand the traffic between the disappearance of the Neanderthal populations and the appearance of modern man (Homo sapiens).

The Cova Gran is a semi-vaulted shelter of large proportions (2,500 m2) that presents an important cultural sequence with levels of use that include events such as the Middle Palaeolithic-Upper Palaeolithic transition, the extinction of the Neanderthals and their relationship with the presence of the first modern humans. Other processes found are the human presence after the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), as well as the consolidation of the Neolithic.
